PENETRATE THE IMPENETRABLE

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda — one of only two natural habitats in the world for Mountain Gorillas (Rwanda is the other). Shows mahogany trees and other dense forest.

This trek to the impenetrable forest is fast becoming one of the iconic treks of the world. This trek will take you deep into the mystical jungle-laden mountains of the mystical Bwindi, declared to hold the highest population of mountain gorilla for preservation on Earth. Deep in its jungles, you will discover one of the world’s most iconic apes, ‘The mountain gorilla’. The park was garzetted in 1991 but open for tourism in 1993 spreading over 321 square kilometers over kigezi highlands. In 1994, UNESCO included Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park on its list of world heritage sites due to its rich diversity. Besides gorillas, Bwindi forest shelters over 350 birds, 127 species of frogs, 120 mammals, 163 tree species and many others.

Giant silverback Gorillas, jungle paths, stunning waterfalls and natural pools, surrounded by the towering green mountains of the Virunga ranges are just some of the highlights on this adventure. Most important, however, is the fascinating cultural context that you’ll experience, passing through indigenous settlements of the indigenous people that now inhabit the peripherals of the forest, among them the Batwa, direct descendants of the original traditional forest dwellers.
